There has been buzz in Hollywood for sometime that Universal is planning on releasing a new superhero movie in 2012. It turns out newest superhero to hit the big screen will be Stretch Armstrong based on the popular Hasbro action figure.  And who will be playing the sexy muscle man in a Speedo?  Well, our favorite werewolf of course!?!  Taylor Lautner from twilight fame will be playing the titular action figure. However, the biggest twist might be the fact that it's in 3D.

"The addition of Taylor Lautner and the 3D twist to Stretch Armstrong...is sure to pay dividends when the film is released in 2012," said Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, Inc.  After initially being planned for 2011, Stretch Armstrong is moving to 2012 to allot time to shape the project into a 3-D superhero adventure and to accommodate Lautner's existing commitments.

"In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power," said Langley. "We couldn't be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch."

I wonder what Lautner will look like as a blonde?  I guess we will have to wait until 2012 to see if blondes really do have more fun.

I can see this movie being made in the the 80's but not today. Do kids even still play with Stretch? It's a toy you might see in the thrift shop or at a garage sale; 1 side all pulled out with dog bites, grimy and dirty from years in the backyard, 1 side all sunburned, cigarette burns in his arms. Or is that just the messed up stuff I did to my toys when I was a kid?
